Though it may look like Audi's been making gradual styling changes just like everyone else, they've actually come a long way in the past few years. The cars look sharper and less bulbous, like they were actually built for speed over down-blanket comfort. In that vein, this concept teaser might just be Audi's new thesis statement.
The as-yet-unnamed concept is due to make an appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show, according to Auto & Design Magazine, which scooped the photo. Marc Lichte, Audi's head of design, told them that it heralded Audis to come:
The importance of this concept car lies mainly in the fact that it will be seen as a manifesto for the four-ring brand's new formal language: "Audi here is placing the accent even more firmly on the sporting dimension, something that will characterise the whole upcoming generation of cars", explains Lichte.
Ah yes, the sporting dimension, a plane of existence way, way beyond any of your silly Skodas or whatever. Though hopefully Audi is not abandoning the certain je ne sais quoi of sporting dynamism, whatever that was as well. It always had that whiff of boulangerie, another French word I heard in class once in 8th grade.
Next up, expect the new line of Audi TTs to have sporting dormality, which is probably not a word, but sounds nice and possibly sleepy as well.
H/t to Carscoops!
