What's The Greatest Mercedes-Benz Ever Made?

Mercedes-Benz is one of the oldest carmakers still in existence, so as a result they've made quite a few cars. Picking the best one should be pretty difficult then, but let's do it anyway!

My nomination goes to the W123 Chassis E-Class (1976-1985). It might not have competition history like the 300SL Gullwing, or the over the top luxury like imperious 600 but it represents what Mercedes did best: solid, reliable, simple German Luxury.

The diesel versions were slow, but could last hundreds of thousands of reliable miles.

The design is simple but it's aged much better than most other cars of the period.

It could be had as a sedan as well as a lovely wagon and pillarless coupe.

It doesn't have a lot of "toys" like a modern luxury car, but the build quality was second to none.

For these reasons, I think it's the best Mercedes ever built, but what do I know? Get to commenting and tell us which one you think is best!
