This Strange Lock-Picking Tool Is Freaking Me Out

This video of a new (?) lock-picking tool for the internally cut keys that first appeared on Volkswagens is making the rounds, and since I know as much about lock-picking as animal husbandry, someone please explain.

The video, which landed on Digg, was uploaded by someone in Thailand. After a few twists and pulls, the lock-pick seems to adjust to the internal tumblers, letting the user open the doors and turn the ignition. The Opel hatchback used in the demo doesn't start, likely because it's looking for the chip inside the fob. Still, that's enough to grab anything valuable from inside. If you know how this works, let us know.
