One of the greatest things that cars can do is bring people together, and the way this 1951 Chrysler New Yorker rally car brought a father and son together is downright inspiring.
This video from the cool dudes over at Petrolicious profiles Jake Auerbach who ran this gorgeous New Yorker in various vintage rallies with his late father. They found the car on eBay and it had previously run in the Carrera Panamerica, and the Pikes Peak hillclimb. The father and son team subsequently put 10,000 miles on the car and won zero rallies.
Jake ironically won his first rally shortly after his fathers passing. He plans on entering the New Yorker in the 2016 Peeking to Paris Rally, as per his fathers wishes.
This video is just great, because it shows how cars can be transcend themselves to be the means in which people are brought together. Jake even says himself that he and his father were best friends because of their shared love of cars.
Plus, how cool is a '51 Chrysler New Yorker rally car? Probably cooler than I'll ever be.
