A drunk homeless man stole and crashed an impeccably restored Ford Model A in Oregon yesterday. Amazingly, the man survived.
Oregon State Police arrested 34-year-old Erik Blake Halpin and jailed him for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of intoxicants, failure to perform the duties of a driver involved in an accident (Halpin swam away from the car after it rolled into a river), and criminal mischief in the first degree.
Local KVEW TV and KTVZ News report that Halpin was taken to the hospital by air ambulance and is very much not dead, quite a surprise given that he rolled a 1930 Ford off a highway and into a river.
