I'm Not Sure The Mercedes-AMG GT Sounds Nasty Enough

The headline of this post was going to be Listen To The Ferocious Snarl Of The Mercedes-AMG GT. Maybe with more adjectives. This is Jalopnik, after all. But then I actually listened to it.

Mercedes hasn't shown us what their 911-fighting sports car will look like yet, but they recently released audio clips of what it will probably sound like. And don't get me wrong — it's nice enough. It has potential. But there's something too restrained, too artificial, and maybe even too truck-like about it.

Here it is with "light revs." Once again, it's good, but it doesn't blow me away. Or am I totally wrong here?

The AMG-GT is expected to have a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 horsepower. What we're hearing here is called an "early stage development preview" and not the finished product.

I'll hold off judgement until I hear the real thing, but for now, I'm hoping for a little more sturm und drang from this German sports car.
