While followers of the Subaru BRZ school might be interested in the STI badges that adorn the 2015 Subaru BRZ Series.Blue, they'll be disappointed to learn this special edition is a body kit and some blue bits, not more power. Hey, you were warned.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, Subaru has announced this run of Series.Blue BRZs is limited to 1,000 units. They say the bodykit, spoilers and underbody panels bring the coefficient of drag down from 0.28 to 0.27. So yeah, functional.
Also included in the STI-branding exercise are the new car's 17-inch alloy wheels, behind which are some red calipers.
Inside, though, Subaru has given the Series.Blue, wait for it... blue accents! They're on the steering wheel and the Alcantara-trimmed seats, sort of like another limited edition Subaru that really is an STI.
For 2015, Subaru says all BRZs get a rejiggled suspension to make the ride more tolerable.
The Series.Blue goes on sale in July for $29.490, almost two grand more than the Limited model it's based on, which means bits like a dual-zone auto climate control and navigation are included. All get the six-speed manual, but curiously half of the 1,000-unit production run will be painted white.
