In highly technical aviation terms, an "oopsie" is when a pilot commits a minor error, such as landing at the wrong airport. That's what happened to one Southwest Airlines pilot on Sunday night, but the good news is that he was in the right state, at least.
The AP reports that Southwest Airlines Flight 4013 was supposed to land at Branson Airport in southwest Missouri, but instead landed at an airport seven miles northeast of there.
The plane, which was carrying 124 passengers and five crew members, instead landed at Taney County Airport, which has a runway about half the size of the one at Branson Airport and proved tricky for the Boeing 737.
"The landing was really abrupt and the pilot applied the brakes really strongly," Dallas attorney Scott Schieffer, who was on the flight, told WFAA-TV. "You could hear it and you could certainly feel it."
Thankfully, the landing was otherwise uneventful, and everyone was safe.
The airline told the AP they did not know why the pilot landed at the wrong airport. It happens sometimes. Southwest brought another plane in to bring passengers to their destination in Dallas.
