The JPN Taxi Concept has been conceived by Toyota in line with the Japanese government’s program for designing buses and taxis that are more user-friendly. It also looks like a futuristic TX4 Hackney Carriage.
Just like New York's Taxi of Tomorrow, the Japanese concept have been designed to give it the maneuverability that’s essential in urban traffic, and to make access easy for passengers with a high cabin, low floor and electric sliding door. It seats five and is equipped with a large interior monitor showing passenger information including the route to the destination and the fare.
Toyota also gave it a new power train complete with an LPG hybrid system that's great for polar bears. LPG is a popular fuel choice among cab drivers not only in Asia but Europe too.
Will this be enough to become Japan's NV200 or a future classic? Only time will tell, but London should take notice.
