Mazda builds the Miata. But here's something you probably didn't know: They build all sorts of other cars too! And they just sold their 10 millionth car in America.
The car in question is something called the 2013 Mazda3, a decidedly non-rear wheel drive, non-roadster that Mazda has been making for quite a while. The 3, which fits five people (three more than in a Miata), was purchased by Lauren Carter of Illinois.
And Mazda, being the nice people that they are, took the 2013 3 away from Miss Carter to keep for their own and put in their museum. But Carter isn't walking away empty handed, Mazda handed her the keys to a brand new 2014 Mazda3, which I've driven and love, as a replacement.
Sounds fair, and congratulations to Mazda on 10 million sold. Now here's to selling 10 million Miatas in 2014. They can do it!
