When most people go car shopping in the winter they make a beeline for the SUVs and crossovers, because “OMG, snow is coming!” But you aren’t most people, and you realize the planet has four seasons, not just one. If you’re in the market for a sporty coupe, now is the time to score a deal.
Our friends over at Road and Track explained how sports car sales slow down quite a bit as the weather gets colder especially in affected areas. So if you are willing to travel and you have the cash, here is a sampling on some of the killer discounts available for awesome sports cars.
2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Sport - $3,181 off MSRP
Even in winter, Miata is always the answer. While $3,200 off might not seem all that significant compared to the other bargains on this list, it is way below the dealer invoice price on a car that, in most areas, dealers hold pretty tight to sticker price.
2017 Nissan 370Z - $6,500 off MSRP
It’s easy to forget that the 370Z still exists. But it still looks good and with a naturally aspirated 330 horsepower V6 that can rack up the miles with little worries, it’s a solid pick for an “old school” sports car in this age of turbos and dual clutch gearboxes.
2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe - $13,410 off MSRP
It takes a special kind of maniac to want to own an Alfa 4C. It’s a car that is both wonderful and frustrating all at the same time. The 4C is probably something you own for a few years to check off your bucket list then dump before the warranty is up.
Given the depreciation on these, it’s best to get one with a solid discount.
2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe - $13,950 off MSRP
I’ve mentioned before that GM has a hard time moving Cadillac inventory for a number of reasons, but that doesn’t take away the fact that the ATS-V is an incredible performance value that projects more attitude than its German competitors. There are similar deals available on Camaros and Corvettes as well.
2016 Porsche Carrera Black Edition - $14,835 off MSRP
It’s a brand new Porsche 911 at almost $15,000 off. There really isn’t much more to say. Sure it’s a “base” model with “only” 350 hp and it has a PDK which may be faster but isn’t as fun as a manual. Regardless, this is an iconic sports car that can be driven and enjoyed every day.
2016 Nissan GT-R Premium - $16,788 off MSRP
The 2017 GT-R may have some upgrades over the previous model, but you would probably have to be a professional race car driver to notice them on a hot-lap with Godzilla. The hype may have simmered down a bit on the GT-R, but it is still a supercar for a relative bargain price.
2016 Jaguar F-Type Coupe S AWD - $20,718 off MSRP
What the Jag lacks in history to the Porsche it makes up for in style and sound. The growling V6 is enough to scare children and now that it’s combined with all-wheel-drive, all that power can stay under control even if you take it out in the snow.
2014 SRT Viper GTS - $26,130 off MSRP
So a 2014 model might be pushing what is considered to be “new” but it doesn’t look any different than a 2016 Viper and your bank account will thank you with over twenty-six grand to spend on tires and track days.
2016 Maserati GranTurismo Sport - $43,250 off MSRP
The lovely Maserati is a bit long in the tooth at this point, but who cares with when you see those curves and hear the sound from that wonderful V8. No turbos here, just classic Italian goodness in a comfortable package for weekend drives or boulevard cruises.
