Ahead of its Saturday debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, we present to you the 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept. If you were looking for a compact luxury crossover, this might be your ride!
Based on the same front-wheel drive platform as the A, B and CLA-Class, the GLA is 172.4 inches long, 77.6 inches wide and 61.8 inches tall. The base engine will most likely be the 2.0-liter unit from the CLA, producing 208 horsepower. Optional four-wheel drive, a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and more powerful diesel and petrol engines will also be available, including one with well above 300 horsepower for the AMG version.
While the concept runs on 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/45 tires and has a very flashy bespoke interior, the production version will certainly be much closer to the current Mercedes-Benz offerings. Still, that translates to a very nice in the most important new segment for luxury automakers.
