A while ago there was a persistent rumor that MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi would switch to Formula One with Ferrari. That never came to fruition, but he still dabbles in cars every once-in-a-while. He dabbled again yesterday when he drove a stock car at Charlotte Motor Speedway. And he was really fast.
Rossi got behind the wheel of Kyle Busch's Toyota Camry Nationwide car yesterday to shoot a video for Monster Energy, which is like Red Bull's underachieving younger cousin.
Busch and Rossi are both sponsored by Monster, so this video will be some sort of cross-promotional film between the two disciplines.
But Rossi didn't go slowly. By the end of his time on track, he was setting speeds that would put him in the top 15 for Nationwide Series practice. That's seriously impressive.
It's also not that surprising. Rossi is one of the all time greats in motorcycle racing and was also fast when he wheeled a Ferrari F1 car.
So does this mean he'll make a full time move to NASCAR? Nope. Not gonna happen. Still, very cool.
