Weekend Motorsports Roundup, October 11-12, 2014

Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what's going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

It's a wild weekend for motorsports fans.

The Chase for the Sprint Cup continues with many of the usual suspects at the bottom of the standings, facing elimination if they don't do well at Charlotte. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., isn't scared about where he is. He was so happy with his car in practice that he said:

"We're going to win this race. I really got a good feeling about it. This is what we've got to do anyway to try to get further points and try to win the championship.

All righty then.

Formula One picks back up in Russia after last week's tragic accident with one less Marussia car in the running and a whole lot of former-Soviet kitsch. Lewis Hamilton was the fastest in practice at Sochi so far despite a spin.

Oh, and we don't actually get one of the most famous races in the world—the Bathurst 1000—on television in the United States. Broadcasters, you have failed us. (But that's a whole 'nother rant.)

At least we can watch SCCA B-Spec online for a chance. I4 Supercars, awaaaaay!
