Tampa's carjackers probably eye the local Sonic drive-ins with the same hungry eyes that tigers lay on old wildebeests lagging around an oasis. But this carjacker was lucky to escape with a cherry-limeade flavored boot to the head.

Romel Calledo told police he thought the would-be jacker was a panhandler — until the man brandished a stick and managed to get behind the wheel of Calledo's SUV. That's when Calledo, a nightclub bouncer, open the passenger door and, bracing himself on the frame, went Steven Segal on the perpetrator.

The assailant is still at large and likely a little sticky around the face.
