The beautiful Volvo FH semi truck is being shilled as being "a sports car under the hood," so for their latest commercial they trolled an unsuspecting valet by sneaking it between some real sports cars. As entertaining as Van Damme riding the mirrors?
Director Henry-Alex Rubin: "All the sports cars you see pulling up are all rented, and all the paparazzi there are fake, the crowds are fake, everything's fake really, except for the valet. He has no idea what's going on."
As for the Volvo FH being a "sports car;" they're coming up with that because of the new truck's I-Shift Dual Clutch transmission, similar to the kind of dual-clutch gearbox that's in some modern sports cars.
As Product Manager Drivelines at Volvo Trucks Astrid Drewsen explains:
"I-Shift Dual Clutch can be described as two parallel-linked transmissions. When one gear is active, the next gear is pre-selected in the other transmission. During the gearchanging itself, the first clutch is disengaged at exactly the same instant that the second one is engaged, so gearchanges take place without any interruption in power delivery. The result is much smoother and easier driving."
Here's the surprisingly complex "behind the scenes" take for your additional entertainment.
