Happy Monday! Apparently today is officially the bleakest day of the year, but I’m not sure I buy into that theory as I’m pretty sure it’s just a means of selling more holidays for the year ahead. Holidays are pretty good though, so make sure you’re taking time off when you can.

Anyway, whether you believe in Blue Monday or not, I always think it’s good to ease yourself into the week gradually and that extends to the music you listen to on your drive in. So, today, I think you should put on a bit of José González to soundtrack your journey into work.

González is singer-songwriter who pens music as a solo artist and through Swedish indie band Junip. Today’s track for your listening pleasure is one that was originally written for Junip but was later released as a solo effort from González.

Both iterations of the song are quite delightful, and sing about the steps we can take as individuals to improve our own lives and the lives of those around us, which seems like a particularly important message on a day like today.

The Junip track and the solo effort linked below are both well worth a listen, but there’s something haunting about the slightly slowed down, paired back sound of González’s solo work that just makes it that little bit lovelier. Give it a listen and see what you think!
