Just look at it, it's great, isn't it? This will be at Pebble Beach from McLaren Special Operations, along with a blue 650S. Oh, and the 986 horsepower, ultra-limited McLaren P1 GTR, of course.
McLaren's Special Operations division has been pretty busy lately, customizing 650S after 650S to keep up with demand. So, it might not be a surprise that one of the two cars they will bring to Pebble Beach also happens to be a 650S.
A Cerulean Blue Spider, to be exact.
The paint was cooked up by MSO and contains a heavy metallic flake "offering a deep gloss shine under the Californian sun." The exposed carbon fiber parts get a satin finish while the exhaust tips are chromed to go with the ten-spoke alloys.
Inside, it's carbon black leather with contrasting blue stitching throughout. The seats also feature a McLaren speedmark embroidered in to the headrests. The carbon fiber sill panel hides the MSO logo while the rest of the exposed carbon is also satin lacquered just like on the outside.
The MSO P1 is a bit more interesting, mainly because it's a P1.
Chassis #84 (out of the 170 built so far) was commissioned by a North American customer with a Stirling Grey exterior full of McLaren Orange accents. At the front, its radiator grilles have a silver finish contrasting with the gloss carbon fiber bumper. The McLaren logo also gets the orange makeover.
The same can be said about the brake calipers, which look cool behind the body-colored gray alloys. The rear wheel arches also have orange "P1" logos, inspired by the labeling used on McLaren's test mules.
Orange doesn't seem to clash with gold as the engine bay and the exhaust has heat shields made of 24 carat gold, just like on the McLaren F1. The car's satin nickel-finished Stealth Pack also includes a dual-color rear wing, with its upper part in body color and the lower in bare carbon fiber. There's some additional orange detailing on the hydraulics to blend some color into the darkness.
Inside, it's the usual Alcantara trim with a custom steering wheel and Stone Grey binding and stitching. Plus McLaren Orange, what else?
Nice, but I'll keep calling that Papaya Orange...
