This Is The Quickest Bentley Ever

Remember that time at Silverstone when the Bentley Continental GT3 race car mopped the floor with various Ferraris, Aston Martins and McLarens? Yeah, good times. Now Bentley is offering a limited edition Continental inspired by that car so you can do some supercar hunting of your own. (Maybe.)

This is the Bentley Continental GT3-R. It has two seats, eight cylinders, two turbos, 572 horses of power, and can do zero to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. That makes it the fastest-accelerating Bentley ever.

I've had the privilege of driving a few Bentleys, and it always amazes me how damned fast they are despite being massive and luxurious land yachts.

The Continental GT3-R is special because it's built on the race-inspired principle that less is more; it drops 220 pounds over the standard Continental by losing the rear seats and adding lighter wheels, a titanium exhaust and other measures.

Under the hood of the GTR-3 beats the 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine from the Continental V8 S. It also gets a new version of Bentley's all-wheel drive system, now with torque vectoring. Further tweaks include a eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with shorter gearing for quicker acceleration and an improved suspension over the standard Continental V8 S.

As it's a special edition Bentley, there's not going to be many of them; just 300 will be produced, and all will have the white and green paint scheme like the race car.

I'll probably never be an endurance racer, but I'd be happy just pretending from behind the wheel of this thing.
