If you didn't realize this was coming, then I don't know what to tell you. I can't say I'm surprised, but the next 911 Turbo won't be available with a manual gearbox. Cue the angry mob.
The 2014 911 GT3 set a precedent for Porsche's top-of-the-line performance models earlier this year when it was declared that it would not be available with a row your own gearbox. PDK is the future of Porsche cars.
Also, the majority of 911 Turbos would probably be sold with PDK anyway. While still a brilliant driver's car, the Turbo isn't always bought by people that have a carnal desire to row their own gears. Some buy it solely because it's the most expensive 911, some buy it because it's the fastest accelerating 911, but there aren't a majority of buyers that get one to do track work or to be totally engaged in their driving experience.
They'll still drive them fast, but I get the sense that the Turbo buyer isn't close to the same as the GT3 buyer. This is just a rare case where PDK fits both applications perfectly. Smooth and fast in the Turbo, raunchy and ridiculous in the GT3.
