Racing in movies doesn't have to be limited to ridiculously fast and furious street drags.
10.) World's Fastest Indian Record Run
This climactic scene in The World's Fastest Indian is a little CGI heavy, but still great. Who doesn't want to watch Sir Anthony Hopkins tear up the Boneville Salt Flats?

9.) Ben Hur Chariot Race
Ok, so there aren't any cars in Ben Hur, but there's no lack of great racing in the legendary chariot scene. It was way ahead of its time in terms of realism, and is still stunning today.

8.) Rush Japanese Grand Prix
Some have criticized Ron Howard's Rush for being too CGI happy, but they nailed the excitement of F1 from that era.

7.) Bobby Deerfield
By most accounts Bobby Deerfield was a terrible movie – we'll give them a pass for all the classic cars and drivers they feature.

6.) Herbie The Love Bug
As we've said here before Herbie The Love Bug is a much better car movie than you remember. It has all of the classic race cars we love competing against a shockingly fast Beetle at the some of the best road courses in America.

5.) Pit Stop
Contrary to the title there are no pit stops in Jack Hill's B-movie Pit Stop, but there's a hell of a lot of ridiculous figure-8 racing.

4.) Days Of Thunder
"He rubbed you – and rubbin', son, is racin'."

3.) Winning
If nothing else, this film should be remembered for starting Paul Neman's successful racing career, but there's also some fantastic Indy 500 footage here as well.

2.) Le Mans
To get its realism, McQueen's production company actually entered a Porsche 908 in the 1970 24 hour race and included its in-car footage in the film.

1.) Grand Prix
I doubt there will never be a more beautiful film about Formula 1 than Grand Prix. They used modified Formula 3 cars, as well as real F1 footage captured by Phil Hill driving a Ford GT40 with a camera strapped to the front.
It was a groundbreaking film, still unmatched today.
