The thing about the Mercedes-Benz S550 is that it just isn't luxurious enough. It comes with a ton of leather and wood, not to mention the feeling of disdain for the poors, but how do people richer than S550 owners make S550 owners feel inadequate? Get an S600 Maybach.

Mercedes is resurrecting the Maybach name just two years after killing it, and will apply the name to all of its most luxurious models. The first will be the S-Class sedan, with the S600 Maybach leading the charge of ultra luxury. This is the start of Maybach as a bespoke, high end sub-brand for Mercedes, just like how performance cars will now be known as Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach will stand for ultimate luxury.

So what can you expect? Well, like the Maybachs that just went away, this will be a combination of tech and luxury, not old world Grey Poupon luxury like the limousines of England. The rear seats have a recline that we'd deem aggressive and quilted leather that appears to be quilted by master quilters.

It only fits four because no rich person wants to ride bitch and will surely feature some of Mercedes's most advanced tech ever.

Originally thought to be called the S600 Pullman, like old Merc limos, the S600 Maybach will reportedly cost somewhere near $1 million, which is a lot of money. Especially if it just looks like an S-Class.

We'll see the car in the flesh next week at the LA Auto Show.
