The Greatest Racing Drivers Of All Time According To You

It's up to you do decide how you define greatness in a racing car

There are too many great racing drivers to count. It's damn near impossible to say that any single one of them is better than all the rest. Did any specific driver do a better job because they had a better car? Or did they get the better car because they were the best around? It's a conversation that will never come to a final conclusion. Earlier this week we asked you all to choose your number one racer of history, and you sure delivered.

Here is a list of fifteen incredible racing drivers, some of which you might not expect to see on the list at all. Check it out!

Super Mario

I'm giving it to Mario Andretti. Daytona 500 win, Indy 500 win, Pikes Peak Win, F1 Championship. The only thing that he is missing is an Overall 24 Hours of Lemans victory but he does have a 12hrs of Sebring win. All this from a guy who used to run a Hudson at Nazareth Fairgrounds

The ‘Stache

I mean, Nigel Mansell was CART champ and F1 champ at the same time in the early 90s...

Super Tex

To quote Smokey Yunick, "A.J. Foyt could beat your ass in anything that had a motor and wheels."

Flying Scot

Jim Clark. That guy did some amazing driving in a time when it was crazy to be going that fast in those cars.

The Rain Master

Ayrton Senna

Two Wheels Or Four?

I think you could also consider John Surtees who's won on 2 and 4 wheels but not nearly as prolific as Mario was.

Dan For President!

Dan Gurney drove and won in many types of racing. Won in a car of his own design

Triple Crown

Graham Hill. The only person to win the triple crown.

Versatility or Control?

I look at versatility and vehicle control. JPM is a good example of the former, and Sebastian Loeb is a good example of the latter.

Racing is a Spectacle

Gilles Villeneuve (at least the most spectacular)

Flash

Here's an outlier for you. How about Robby Gordon. (Hear me out) – Dakar, IMSA, BAJA off road desert racing, CART, Indy series, NASCAR , Stadium Super Trucks and Trans-Am. If it has wheels, Robby will run it.

Indian Taxi Driver

Someone in India driving one of those taxi carts through 10 lanes of nonsensical traffic

Nachos! Steamy!

Jerry was a race car driver

He drove so goddamn fast

He never did win no checkered flags

But he never did come in last

Me.

Since nobody is going to make it to the 15th slide of this slideshow anyway, I might as well put myself on the list. I am the greatest racing driver to ever exist. It's a shame I'll never be able to go head-to-head with the likes of Senna or Gurney or Fangio, because we'll never know for sure that I couldn't beat them.
