The 2012 24 Hours Of Le Mans: Über Gallery

It was a little depressing to watch Toyota and the DeltaWing fall out of the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year to let Audi steamroll the race with little drama through the rest of the classes. At times, though, the beauty of the race took over.

You'd sit there watching an onboard with one of the Audis in the middle of the night and you'd know that nothing was really happening in the middle of the race. And then it would hit you. "Oh man, this is the coolest thing I have ever seen." A top-flight racing prototype, at the limit, corner after corner after corner on a pitch black public-road-turned-racetrack.

Zerin Dube of Speed Sport Life was at the race, never sleeping through the entire 24 hours (though it looked like he closed his eyes for a second), and he shot these fantastic images while he was there.

Take them all in, from the lonely cars making their way along the eight-and-a-half mile course, to the close passes between the GTs. Most thrilling of all are the passes between the prototypes and the slower GT cars, as it was these interactions that broke Anthony Davidson's back and cost Allan McNish the win.
