Every year you can find some of the most drool-worthy vintage and modern sports cars at the RM Sotheby’s Classic Car Auction in Monterey, California. But this year will have some of the most expensive and exclusive cars ever built, and they were all sourced from a single collector.
If you grew up with supercar posters on your bedroom wall, there is a good chance your dream car will cross the auction block this August. It is called the “The Pinnacle Portfolio” and according to Reuters all of these cars were acquired by one anonymous source. Some of the highlights include:
- 1994 Ferrari F40 LM
- 2006 Bugatti Veyron, chassis 001
- 2005 Ferrari Enzo that was gifted to Pope John Paul II
- 1988 Porsche 959 ‘Komfort’
- 1998 McLaren F1 “The Road Going LM” It is one of two factory made F1 cars with all of the LM performance upgrades, while maintaining the street car’s interior.
Given the rarity and historical significance of these machines, you will have to be ultra-rich to get a piece of the action. The McLaren F1 is estimated to sell for about $12 million dollars. Sotheby’s expects this year’s auction to surpass last year’s record of $144 million dollars.
