This Porsche 911 GT1 Makes A McLaren P1 Seem As Common As A Camry

People who don't like cars will say it's a piece of art. People who don't like cars will say only 25 were ever made. People who don't like cars will say that in 2011, one of these sold for $1.7 million, and it's only gone up in value since. People who don't like cars will say that for all these reasons, the Porsche 911 GT1 shouldn't be driven. They are wrong.

In fairness, I might be afraid to drive the Porsche 911 GT1 at any speed over 3 MPH, due to, you know, their tendency to momentarily become airplanes:

But this is the road-going Straßenversion, meant to satisfy the best racing regulation in history, that 25 street-legal versions must be made for customers. And that can't be all bad, right?

Who am I kidding. It's a Le Mans racer that I can drive in traffic. I'd drive the nuts off of it everywhere. Even if it's only in Monaco, it still makes the relatively common McLaren P1 look like it's for the plebs.

It's low, it's wide, and it's the ultimate Porsche 911. Even if the engine doesn't hang all the way out back.
