Hey, you know how it is sometimes. You spend close to half a million dollars on a luxury car, you start to have problems with it, and then your dealership fixes it with shoddy used parts so you're forced to take a sledgehammer to it in public. We've all been there, right?
Okay, maybe not, but that's what happened in the city of Qingdao in China yesterday, according to China Car Times. An angry owner of a $423,000 Maserati Quattroporte showed up at the Qingdao Auto Show where he beat the ever-loving crap out of his fancy car with a sledgehammer as an act of protest against the way he says the dealer fixed it.
The man said he bought the car in September 2011, but it was back in the shop two months later where he believes it was "fixed" with dirty, second-hand parts.
Car News China says the man waited until the auto show to destroy the car, and used social media to let journalists know what he was doing ahead of time.
This isn't the first time this has happened in China, or even in Qingdao. Two years ago a man destroyed his Lamborghini with a sledgehammer after he said it failed to function properly following a trip to an official service center. CNC says the Maserati owner was inspired by this act.
I'm really glad you folks in China have this kind of disposable income. Let me know how that's working out for you.
