When you hear General Motors, you probably think of Chevrolets, Cadillacs and GMCs. Or bailouts and the death of Pontiac in case you're not a fan of the company.
When I think of GM, it's all about funky Opels (as I'm always on the edge of buying a C Kadett), or how they ruined Saab for good. But for an Australian, GM is Holden, just like it meant Daewoo in Korea before they switched to Chevy there.
And since these foreign operations produce cars for very different markets, GM sometimes ends up making nicer cars through its subsidiaries than at home. Most of which never made it to the States.
