Have you ever wondered what would happen if you bought the biggest tires at the shop? Well first you’d have to make them fit on your truck, then you could have a lot of fun. Dirt Every Day’s Fred Williams and Dave Chappelle (no, not that guy, another one) show us how to do both both.

This big blue beast of a truck is a 1993 Ford F-350 crew cab long bed. An unusual combination based on my casual Craigslist trolling, and actually only about six inches shorter than an Iowa-class battleship.

As such it’s a pretty poor choice for rock crawling. Unless you have 54-inch tires.

It’s cool to see how Fred and Dave figure out how to fit these monster truck wheels on a regular-ass pickup. (Spoiler alert: there’s a lot of cutting.) But I was even more impressed that it made it through a few rock obstacles at Johnson Valley, a desert wasteland about three hours east of Los Angeles and home to the legendary King Of The Hammers race.

Those tires are just silly. And wonderful. “They do make the rocks look small,” Dave says.

Ride looks pretty rough though. Nothing like hardcore off-roading with a bench seat.
