We've been hearing the 2015 Nissan Titan was stepping up its game with a 5.0 turbocharged Cummins diesel, an engine that might also show up in the 2016 Toyota Tundra. We were almost ready to forget that 'til today, when Nissan started titillating us all over again with "#CumminsSoon" on Twitter.
Nissan sells something like 1,000 Titans a month, probably mostly to employees who need something to tow their boats to Tennessee lakes on weekends. The truck is in desperate need of an awesome-injection and with all the praise being lauded on Ram's EcoDiesel half-ton, Nissan just might be able to ride the Cummins cache back to relevance in the full-size truck market.
I got to drive a smaller Cummins engine in a 2014 Nissan Frontier, and while the test-mule experience was a little unrefined the powerplant felt great.
Give us the D, Nissan. We're ready already.
