Yes, this is for real. Land Rover went there. Meet the long-awaited (?) Range Rover Evoque with the optional roof that... someone, I guess, has always wanted.
I don’t know who those people are either, besides Victoria Beckham and people who always wanted to go upmarket after owning a Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. Either way, it’s legit, and coming to the Los Angeles Auto Show next week. (Of course it’s debuting at the LA Auto Show. This is basically Los Angeles itself, in vehicle form.)
Actually that looks really, really fun. I take back everything I just said.
Land Rover says the Evoque Covertible’s top goes down in 18 seconds, and its position won’t interfere with the 9 cubic feet of cargo space you get in the trunk, making this about the most spacious droptop around.
Other higlights include a 10.2-inch touchscreen with their all-new infotainment system, 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel four-cylinder engines (but only one of those at a time), and optional four-wheel drive so you can enjoy your Evoque Convertible anywhere.
Pricing starts at $50,475 when it goes on sale next year. Ridiculous, but maybe in a good way.
