It's been a while since the last time I told you about my Autobianchi A112, but last weekend, my tiny modern classic played with the big boys on a sunny afternoon in Budapest.
The Oldtimer Sokadalom is an annual gathering of classics and youngtimers, which is the category my 1985 Autobianchi A112 falls into. That's one of the reasons I bought it. Now I can participate in these events, and people actually check out my car even if it's standing next to something a bit more exotic. They even take pictures sometimes, which is funny considering it's an economy car from the mid-eighties. Than again, they do say that Marcello Gandini designed the first generation.
The great thing about the scene here is that we've got a huge variety of cars from all over the world. Whether it's a DeLorean next to an M6, a Firebird next to a Trabant, a Citroën DS next to an early Lada or an Autobianchi next to an AC Cobra, you can see them all in one place.
After chatting with other happy owners and finishing off some grilled sausages with hot peppers and mustard, the participants slowly started to make a move for the road. We had a recommended route printed out, since what can be better than cruising with great cars all around in a beautiful European capital like Budapest?
Well, it turned out that traffic jams caused by the massive flooding of the Danube can kind of ruin the experience, but honestly, who cares as long as the engine temperature stays normal? And since the Bianchi's did, I had fun and every reason to be proud of my little red car.
So, without further ado, here's the mega gallery of the Oldtimer Sokadalom with some rather rare European beauties:
Newlywed opportunists:
Would I like to spend the next three years doing classic reviews of these cars?
Well, you know the answer...
