It has 280 pound-feet of torque, 20.8 cubic feet of space, four driven wheels. That Skoda’s new Octavia vRS 4x4 in a nutshell.
Previously, Skoda’s fastest came with either a turbocharged gas or a turbocharged diesel engine, linked to a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG.
The new all-wheel drive variant can only be a diesel with the DSG, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially considering that you can still get a wagon instead of the hatchback sedan.
The 2.0 TDI produces 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet between 1,750-3,250 RPM, sending the wagon to 62 mph in a blistering 7.7 seconds. And when you fold down those seats, the Octavia wagon gives you 55.8 cubic feet to play with. Good luck getting a bigger dog than that.
With the vRS 4x4s, Skoda’s budget Audi Quattro lineup just grew into a family of five.
Is Skoda VW’s best brand? Is that even a question?
