These days, no car says "I park on my front lawn and I don't give a shit" better than a mid-90s Pontiac Sunfire. But where did the Sunfire's legend begin? To find out, let's travel back to 1995 when it was all shiny and new.

Back then, Mr. John Davis and the MotorWeek crew heap a ton of praise on the Sunfire for being a vastly better car than the Sunbird it replaced. (If you've ever driven a Sunfire, this will tell you just how incredibly awful the Sunbird was.) It has "lots of spark" and "won't take second place to Cavalier in styling anymore," says Mr. Davis, thanks to its design that makes it look "like a mini-Firebird." Exciting!

And the party continues inside with knobs and buttons that are well-sized for adult hands. Even though this video was shot with a potato, it's abundantly clear why the Sunfire is such an instant American classic.

MotorWeek Theater is our showcase of some of our favorite classic reviews from public television's finest motoring program. How does this video only have 4,218 views on YouTube? It's sweet like Sunfire-shine!
