Legendary Off-Road Racing Movie Dust To Glory Is Getting A Sequel

Dust To Glory is ten years old now, but it’s still considered the definitive Baja racing movie. Before everyone had GoPros and iPhones, director Dana Brown told a story that inspired a whole new generation to get into off-road adventure. And next year, they’re doing it all over again.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you probably didn’t click on this post. But just in case here’s an excuse to watch the original Dust To Glory trailer:

With so many sandy action shots and legendary characters on-screen, it’s easy to see why the off-road community still has so much reverence for this film.

Combining that level of storytelling with today’s video technology is going to be mind-blowing, and the time to get hyped is right now.

Baja 1000 race sanctioning body SCORE International says the Dust To Glory sequel is official, and will come out in 2017 to line up with the organization’s 50th anniversary of Baja racing. Most of the shooting will take place next year. That should make the 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship particularly epic to watch– you know every racer’s going to be vying for immortality in the video as much as position in the races.

The official trailer was shown off on the big screen at this year’s Off-Road Expo in Pomona, California last week. So far the only upload I can find is this mediocre pirate shot, but it’s enough to get me jacked up on this for now.

Stay tuned for more Mexico dirt-racing action as the 2015 Baja 1000 comes closer, and hopefully we get a higher-resolution upload of the Dust To Glory 2 (2Dusty 2Glorious?) trailer!
