If you have a great engine, the best thing is to connect it to a rather free flowing exhaust and let it breathe. These ten cars certainly mix up the air.
10.) Tuned Ford GT
According to Evo, stock GTs are nothing to write home about:
Turn the ignition key, prod the red starter button and the supercharged 550bhp V8 churns briskly but quietly into life. It's hardly the thunderous awakening you might expect. In fact, given that the supercharger pulley all but tickles your right shoulder, it's remarkable that Ford has managed to suppress the noise to such a degree. Even a hearty stamp on the throttle fails to illicit a holler from the decidedly emasculated tailpipes, much to the disappointment of Barker and Barke.
However, there aren't many stock GTs out there, and that's a good thing. JohnnyWasASchoolBoy:
There's one that attends our local Thursday night show 'n' shine. When it leaves and the owner accelerates down the block, it sounds like the earth is being torn in two by angry giants.

9.) Jaguar F-Type R Coupe
Britain gave the world the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, V12 Aston Martins and Jaguar's supercharged V8. God Save The Queen indeed.

8.) Lamborghini Diablo SV
The Lamborghini V12 at its best. Pessimippopotamus:
I'm a fan of pre-Murcielago Lamborghini engines and the Diablo SV is exceptionally loud, not just when it revs, but it has that gravely low-end burble that I really like. Can hear that car for blocks as it drives away. Just completely unforgettable.

7.) 7-Liter Ford Galaxie
Ford put lots of '7-Litre' badges all over the car, but what was more telling from a distance was the rumble it made.

6.) Mercedes-Benz SSK
Speaking of seven-liter engines, here's another one suggested by syaieya:
The Mercedes benz SSK. When it was introduced to the world with it's 7 liter supercharged inline 6. It made a sound that resonated like nothing else throughout the countryside. At speed people unfamiliar with the car could only describe it as a demonic wail. And of course it was at speed, it was the fastest production car the world had ever seen.

I know we're on the edge of the road car category here, but holy fireworks Batman!

4.) Porsche Carrera GT
If you want something that sounds like a Formula-1 car, but can be driven to get groceries too, it's either the Lexus LFA or this one. Thanks Cayenne buyers!

3.) 1,000 hp Corvette Z06
Flames and terror. An LS turned to ten. Glorious.

2.) Shelby Daytona Coupe
There's only one Shelby that's louder than a 427 Cobra or a Series 1. THUNDERDOME!

1.) Pagani Zonda 760RS
The Pagani Zonda 760RS shouldn't be road legal, but it is. Be prepared to switch off your alarm.
