If you had told me last week that the Maserati Ghibli was getting its own Super Bowl ad, I would have told you were on drugs, and then I would have asked you for some of those drugs because they sound like fun and potent drugs.

But Chrysler surprised the world with the ad for the Ghibli, which to that point was a relatively obscure car, even if it's a big deal for Maserati. There have been stranger cars to get their own TV commercials.

That's our question of the day: What's the most obscure car to ever get its own TV ad?

I nominate the Sterling, which was a rebadged Rover 800, which itself was basically an Acura Legend except made in England with questionable build quality. The idea for the Sterling itself was extremely strange; that it got its own TV ad is even stranger.

Your turn. What's a car you never expected to be on TV? It can be in the U.S. or some other market. Maybe there were Pontiac Fiero ads in Japan; I haven't gone looking for them.
