On Tuesday, a car crashed into a Pennsylvania couple's home, but the residents weren't surprised. It was the third crash in six months. Now they want to protect themselves, but they're afraid to do so.
Sonya and Wade Schenewolf live in Easton, PA on a curve and relatively close to the road. They're in a 30 mph zone, but a recent bridge has made them the target of speeding drivers. Sonya Shadenwolf explained the situation to ABC News.
Recently, the township put in a two-lane bridge directly across from my house. If you come across that bridge and you don't stop, you're in my house.
The most recent car was going so fast it was airborne when it crashed into the Schenewolf's house. The driver will be alright, but he caused an estimated $40,000 in damage to the Schenewolf's house and their parked car in the crash. He only has $5,000 in property damage coverage.
In response to this crash, and to the two other crashes in March and last December, the Schenewolfs would like to put up a boulder in front of their house. According to responding rescue workers, drivers would be much safer if they hit a close, solid boulder than if they plowed straight into the house. The Schenewolfs, however, could become liable for any injuries to the drivers if they do get a boulder put up.
Hopefully the city government approves their plan to truck in a boulder before they break this Massachusetts man's five-time record.
