For Mr. Regular, the Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 brings back memories of drivers’ ed, visor-mounted CD sleeves, and Rita’s Italian Ice. Oh how those days aren’t missed.
With an overly harsh suspension and an “over-designed” 150 horsepower 2.4-liter LD9 inline-four motor, the Z24 was GM’s attempt at turning one their most popular models into something they could label as “sporty”. It’s only real competition was the Dodge Neon R/T, and who actually wanted one of those things?
Sure it had a classic ‘90s cheapo GM interior, but buyers didn’t care. If they wanted a little more bang in their American econobox, the Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 was one of their only options.

For that, I am deeply sorry.
