Fuck Yeah, BMW Films Are Back And The First Trailer Looks Amazing
If you love cars, the chances are good that you've seen the BMW Films "The Hire" series from the early 2000s. They were BMW advertisements, sure, but they were so good that you didn't have to be in the market for a BMW to get them. You didn't even have to like BMWs! And now it seems like they're coming back with an episode called, "The Escape," according to this sneak peek.
Back in 2014, we only had the scarcest of details about a new BMW Films series. Now we know from the BMW Films website that "The Escape" will star Clive Owen (who appears to be repeating his role as The Driver), Jon Bernthal, Dakota Fanning and Vera Farmiga. It will be written and directed by South African Neill Blomkamp, whose gritty and first-person style can be seen in District 9 and Elysium. He's also the guy who directed this Halo short film that I wish had become a bigger thing.
At this point, we don't know who else will be lending their talents in "The Escape," but judging on who was in the original series, we should expect a good group of folks. For those of you who only saw the Madonna film, "The Hire" series brought together a plethora of top directors and actors, including Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, John Woo, Madonna, Gary Oldman, Mickey Rourke and James Brown.
It's also unclear how many episodes will be in the new series, but I expect we'll find out more when the "The Escape" airs on October 23 (which is a Sunday). So get ready.
In the meantime, here's "Star" to whet your appetite.
UPDATE: The film will air at 6:00 p.m. EST on October 23 on BMWFilms.com.
