It's the same format we use for Answers of The Day and dozens of other stories long before the redesign. Those put the text out of the way on the side and weren't as clear about how to flip to the next image. We don't run off pageviews; we only do galleries where we think they fit the story, as they do here. Read more

We don't use galleries to boost pageviews; we use them when they fit into photo-heavy stories, just like the galleries we ran before the redesign every day. The arrows on either side of the photo and on the image itself when you mouse over it should be easy enough to use. Read more
