Probably more your dealer, rather than Toyota. Around 2003-4 I took the 1982 Tercel to a dealer, and they had a recall on it. They performed $1200 worth of work/parts on a $600 car.

It had been that the term “coupe” only applied to cars with no back seats (so two seaters, or three seaters with a single bench seat...) a two door car with a back seat would be marketed as a coupe, even into the 1980s.

Those mirrors were for the Japanese Domestic Market, and all Japanese cars had them at the time. Cars headed for the U.S. had conventional door mounted mirrors. Or one mirror. My car had a driver’s side mirror only. Passenger side was an option the P.O. didn’t bother with.

I had to replace the valve cover gasket on mine when I got it, as it was leaking oil right onto the exhaust manifold. I recall the inside hood had a diagram of all the tubing printed on it.
