Of course you can do it. What kind of bike are you building? In college I built a 1972 Honda CB 350 out of parts. I loved that bike and had a ton of great adventures. Good luck!

I think I got set up at home for around 400. That’s welder, helmet, gloves and gas. I got my 110v unit at Home Depot, and it’s good for 5/16”. I do sheet metal mostly so that’s plenty for me. Thanks for reading me. Check out the stuff I do here:

I chose to focus on the common electric arc welding types which ruled out gas welding. It did get a mention in the intro. Read more

Lookin’ good. I’d love to have a TIG machine at home (assuming this is your garage). What’s that hiding bach there? Looks like there are some ace bars... cafe project? Read more

I’m not really advocating getting a job as a welder, it’s easy to read this article that way though. I really wrote it to increase awareness and generate interest/appreciation in the field. That's why you see a lot of old IH Scouts with rust right behind the door. Scout II honey is Read more

I love the old Scout 80s and 800s body style. They were the first Scouts I saw and I fell in love. I owned a '78 Scout II for my first car. It was a ludicrous daily driver but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I'm keeping an eye on this series. Read more

I also want to re-iterate the joys of driving with a toilet. At one point, in the middle of nowhere, my lunch decided it needed to eject, pronto. There wasn't a rest stop or anything for miles. In a normal car, that would have made for a horrific hour or more of sweaty, panicked, rectum-clenching misery. I just Read more

Sounds like a blast. Way to keep that old beetle going. It's great to see cars like this being driven and not on blocks. Read more
