Used to do Jalopnik Detroit when that was a thing. Now just kinda here and there.

It looks like there is a brick wall down there. Some sort of buried structure? Read more

I haven't been there in at least 6 years, last time was probably before I graduated at northwood, but I never had a problem, honestly. Read more

This is Detroit. There is nearly no public transportation. You are expected to drive and park everywhere because auto industry. The city made that bed; now it has to lie in it. Read more

Yeah, I was at a conference at Cobo back in November, and was shocked that the garages are cash only. How the hell do they not even have a Square reader? Read more

I didn't go to the Detroit press previews last year but did for several years before that. I just took the free shuttles that the show sent around to the official hotels. Read more

Honestly, it sucks that Detroit is in the middle of all the financial problems its having. And that all the local industry has shut down, but now city management and local event spaces are failing too. The roof snafu caught me by surprise yesterday, forcing me to park in Joe Louis Arena's garage and walk through the scenic elevated sewer tubes to Cobo. Amazingly, that didn't even appear to be an option on day two — both the entrance from the Lodge and on Jefferson were closed. Imagine my surprise to find the Read more

The patience of Detroiters with regard to what they have to put up with on a daily, even hourly, basis is mind-boggling. Hang in there, Aaron. Wish I were at this year's show. Read more

Well what you could do is drive to Greektown Casino park there for a small fee or free if you have a players card, then get on the people mover and take that over to Cobo. I have been doing that the past couple of years. Read more

Very cool. I have Pewabic tile around my fireplace. I'm conflicted about replacing, because I appreciate the history (you have to really appreciate history to want to buy in my neighborhood in Grand Rapids), but it's not their trademark blue and I'm not very fond of the colour. However, it's been there for 100 years, Read more
