Used to do Jalopnik Detroit when that was a thing. Now just kinda here and there.

In that Bloomberg article, they refer to "swarms of tiny, ferocious dogs. It's like Chihuahuaville." My chihuahua Izzy would like to clarify, Chihuahua's dont swarm unless it's to give you licks.

We like to have a lot of laughs on the racetrack, but today we wanna talk about something serious: Packs of stray dogs that control most of the major cities.

Only to 6 Mile. That way you have plenty of room for gawkers to sit, plenty of lanes for cruising AND traffic, there are only four stop lights going south between 8 Mile and 6 Mile, the new shopping center gets a boost, there are four gas stations along Woodward on the Northbound side during that stretch if you Read more

Heh I haven't heard the term party store since moving out of Michigan. It's weird to see it in an article now. Read more

Nope. I'm a realist when I say that nobody, especially tourists, will want to cruise Woodward south of 8 Mile. Even more, you wouldn't see very many lawn chairs and tents set up along the route if Detroit couldn't guarantee some degree of protection from criminal behavior. Read more

This was my fourth year attending the Woodward cruise, and it always puzzled me why it didn't take in downtown. But it seems the cruise already thins out south of the Zoo, in spite of Ford's best efforts to make Ferndale a significant part of it. I'm all for the cruise ruining into and helping Detroit but to make it Read more

Want to extend the dream cruise into Detroit? I got the perfect vehicle.

I don't see it happening. Woodward south of 8 Mile isn't as well set up for a cruise. It is more congested, has fewer gas stations, and doesn't have as many turn around areas. The road surface is pretty bad in some areas as well. Lastly, even if it were extended, I doubt many people would go since they would assume Read more

I took in the Dream Cruise for the first time this year and had a total blast. I was unable to take in everything as there is just too much to see in its current funtastic forum. Read more

The idea has its pros and cons, but if the cruise was to be extended, with the current dream cruise traffic, it would literally take all day to go all the way down and all the way back up or vis versa. This year I mainly stayed in the 18 mile to 10 mile area and it took hours to go those 8 miles. Read more

its long enough as it is - any good cruise day takes upwards of 3 hours to make it from ferndale up to pontiac. also, one of the draws to the cruise is checking out some of the club corrals in ferndale, or in royal oak near beaumont, or birmingham, or downtown pontiac. i just don't see any of those big corrals Read more

Last weekend was my third consecutive Dream Cruise and my third time showing a car in Mustang Alley in Ferndale. Half way through the day my friends and I cruised up to Thirteen Mile Road to see the Chrysler displays, a five mile trip that took well over an hour. We were determined to do the entire cruise so we Read more

Took me and my friend almost 2 hours going from 15.5 down to 11.5 and back up to 14. That one lap for the the long cruise will take an entire day... Read more

What about a completely different show? The Dream Cruise essentially wraps up the summer, and drivers gets ready to put their cars away for the cold months. So what about a summer kickoff show downtown? But instead of just an informal drive around, actual festivities could happen. We could throw our own sort of Read more

Given how much complaining I've heard year after year from Suburbanites about how much the Dream Cruise is horrible for the local economy, and how terrible the cruisers are the weeks leading up to the event, the whole cruise should move to Detroit. Belle Isle to Midtown and back! Read more

Woodward,in Detroit proper, has never enjoyed the cruising past that the suburban cruisers are recreating in mostly Royal Oak and beyond.Fond memories of drag racing, drive in restaurants, and meeting other members of the opposite sex didn't happen in Detroit. And what if someone's classic needs gas or repairs downtown? Read more

The answer is 'no'. That would make the Cruise WAY too long not to mention the fact that Woodward within the city is far too narrow and sadly too many stretches aren't up to snuff the terms of development. Lets revisit this subject in 5 years and see how much Woodward within Detroit has progressed. Read more

If they can fix up the road, then sure. But until then? No way. You really don't want more bitching about the condition of the city and I have a feeling cruisers that had to deal with scraped or damaged body panels and suspension will NOT be happy about the cruise going so far south. Read more
