Police in Danville, Illinois are reporting minor injuries after a “scary train of events” that led to this Mustang being lodged under the trailer of a big rig on Highway 36. They’re still trying to figure out what exactly happened.
Surely you remember the opening sequence of the original The Fast & The Furious where one of those little neon’d 90's Honda Civics zips underneath that semi-truck’s trailer to avoid crashing?
Unfortunately for this Mustang, real big rigs are a little bit lower.
The Danville Metro Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the accident took place between CR 200 E and CR 300 E on US HWY 36 at about 6 a.m. local time and was significant enough to shut the road down for a period of time.
The lanes have since been reopened, but a representative at the department told me over the phone that the investigation into the cause of the crash was still underway as of about 1 p.m. local time. So we’re not really sure if this was another case of a Mustang gone wild, a trucker missing a car in their blindspot or something else altogether.
Regardless the result is pretty clear: you can’t actually fit under one of those trailers, even in a little car that’s just 52 inches roof-to-road.
Hat tip to Parker!
