Pope Francis promised he'd be a humble Pope. That wasn't a joke, because this is his new car: A 1984 Renault 4. It also makes his current Ford Focus look like opulent transport fit for the Duke of Bologna.
The car comes to Pope Francis from Italian pastor Renzo Zocca, who has driven the car for ages and wanted to donate it to the Pope in order to show that they stand together on fighting poverty. How giving a car to a man with a car who already fights poverty shows solidarity in the fight of poverty I don't know.
But what this does mean is that the Pope, the leader of the Catholic Church, is riding around in a 29 year old car with 186,000 miles on it. No matter what your religious affiliation, or non-affiliation, this beats the pants off what other religious leaders ride or drive in all day.
It's also way better than a Mercedes ML with a glass box on the back. Now someone just needs to donate a spec Miata to the Pope because they think it'll benefit the hungry. Make it so.
