Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz paused qualifying for the United States Grand Prix with 12 minutes and 46 seconds to go in the 18-minute session after he lost control of his car in the slippery conditions and ate the barrier in Turn 4.

I’m sure he wishes we’d have set qualifying by Free Practice 3 times right about now. Sadly for Sainz, this means he’s out.

The session has restarted, as conditions are comparable to yesterday morning and officials at the track have deemed that cars are safe to run.
