DUI suspects are typically arrested, booked, photographed in a more or less rumpled state, and then released as long as they didn't kill anyone.
Celebrity Chef Cat Cora didn't have to get a booking photo when she was arrested for drunk driving in Santa Barbara, Calif. and placed in the county's sobering center for a few hours. It wasn't until 11 days later that she was required to come back and have her photo taken, and unlike most booking photos, hers looks pretty good.
The whole thing came about on June 17, when she was on her way back from the Cold Springs Tavern, a 19th century carriage house turned blues and BBQ joint in the mountains above Santa Barbara. She'd apparently had too much to drink, and hit another car. When police arrived on scene, her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
"I deeply regret my decision to drive that evening after my designated driver became unavailable," she told the Santa Barbara Independent through her publicist. "I learned a very important lesson from this experience and take full accountability for my actions. This will never happen again."
Celebrity gossip site TMZ was quick to pick up on the fact that she didn't look as disheveled/miserable as most people do in booking photos, and asked the question, "Would you or wouldn't you?" We'll leave the exact meaning of that up to your imagination. (Hat tip to Mick!)
