What's The Best Supercharged Engine?

On Friday there was a heated debate over the best turbocharged engines and now we're curious: what's the best supercharged engine?

Is there any doubt we'd pick the powergasmic LS9? The 6.2-liter V8 already has the displacement and sturdy design you'd expect from an LS-series engine. Toss in the positive-displacement Roots-type supercharger and you'll get enough pressure to squeeze out more than 100 HP-power-liter and propel the 2009 Corvette ZR1 to 60 MPH in 3.3 seconds. Not only is it powerful, the LS9 is an engine so beautiful it demands its own special window if you buy it in native application form. If, however, you just want one in a box, well, you can do that too.
